Everything has its own best time to do. For example, the best time to sleep is at 10pm – 11pm. The best time to exercise is at 6pm evening. If we could apply the best time to do things, we have better health.

As a blogger, I have monitoring the best time to publish post for some time of period. I myself used to publish post in the morning after 10am even put in schedule. I feel that it is the most suitable time for my readers and optimize for my RSS subscribers.

Best Time to Publish Post

After read the study by Jake Luciani, the conclusion he made is: between 1pm and 3pm (after lunch) or between 5pm and 7pm (after work) are the best times and Thursday is the best day to publish post.

This study was analyze based on 10k posts with blog PR > 6.

Time flies to April of 2008, it was already 2 months since my last SEO report on February 2008. Now, its time again to reveal my SEO report for April 2008. Have I improved? Let’s see the results below.

My Monthly SEO Report

1. Alexa

My Alexa rank on February 2008 was 224,497, and now progressing well to 208,954. It is total of 7% increment in percentage. This is quite close to my target 200,000 but still need some extra force into the traffics. I am going to try more marketing methods in continuos months.

2. Slimstat

My avarage visitors was between 200-300 visits a day on February’s report. My target was 400 visits a day. As shown in the results, I have head over the target towards 700 visits a day! (more…)

Yesterday I advertised my blog post using famous social media Stumble
Upon. The $5 bucks investment is worth the money although the post
does not stumble on front page.

As shown in the blog traffics graph, my visitors have been raised up
from 250 visitors to 460 visitors within days.
Although I bought only 100 visitors, but Stumble has sent me some
extra visitors.

As a conclusion, Stumble has help me to increase my traffic
to higher stage. My Alexa rank also has been raise up back from 231,xxx to 226,093 over the weekend.

From my result, I would say the advertisement campaign cost $0.01 per
visitors rather than $0.05. Its really worth my $5, a cheap yet effective increase traffics method.

After select my target category and submit the post url, wait for approval. Once its approved, I receive the confirmation email then I debit $5 into my Stumble Upon account via Paypal. Comments in a post can tell you know the post popularity and how
active is your readers. Recently, I have posted an article about design your own logo on
LiewCF.com and it brought about 10 comments within hours. This means
LiewCF really made well relation with his readers, also the readers
are active in this blogsphere.

How to get more comments?

There are 7 ways I would like to share with you:

1. Ask for their opinion
When you post an article, do not close the article with only your own conclusion. Give some space for your reader to post their comment. As for me, I always use the question like ” How about you? What is your opinion? What do you think?”. These question really make your readers start to think rather than feed them, and they might reply their opinion to you by comment in your post.

2. Put in interesting topic
Put in some content that can use for discussion, which do not have absolute answer. For example, my previous post about HD DVD vs Blu-ray , this is an interesting topic for discussion that do not have an absolute answer at this moment. It is more to readers’ need and usage. There are more interesting topics that you can write about, for example: digital or analogue, comparison between softwares and etc.

3. Respond to their comment
Once your readers comment in your post, you must respond to their comment in positive way. This way make your readers like to comment their opinion, their question and definitely build a relation between readers and author. When your post are lively, more people will start to comment.

4. Reward them
Some blog did launch for contest for their top commentators. Frankly speaking I myself did launched a contest after my 1st month blogging. There are more ways to reward them , such as install a top commentators widget on your blog’s sidebar like mine.
