Should I QUIT Blogging ?

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Should I QUIT blogging? I ask myself twice today. Why I ask myself such question? Six months ago, New York Times said Blogging is Dangerous. And now,Wired Magazine say Twitter, Flickr, Facebook make blogs look so “2004″. The author said:

Thinking about launching your own blog? Here’s some friendly advice: Don’t. And if you’ve already got one, pull the plug.

Reasons to QUIT Blogging

In that article, the author give few reasons to quit blogging.

1) Impersonal – He mentioned the author of Weblogs network, Jason Calacanis annouced his retirement from blogging 3 months ago. In Jason’s blog, he said the main reason he quit was because blogging is impersonal. I look at this statement, it is not a problem at all. Blogger have right to turn on “private blog” then others can read your “personal” article. But for me, blog is not only write, it also a sharing media. If not for sharing, better write article in Word and save only on computer?

Another point, the author don’t know Jason is microblogging at twitter? (@jasoncalacanis) In fact I follow him at twitter for more than 6 months and he is quite active. As a result, Jason is NOT totally quit from blogging.

2) Google search result -He not satisfy with the Google search result. A post can quickly skyrocketing to the top of Google search result when blogging was young. Now no more. Well, I say Google has formula or algorithm to decide the ranking for search keyword (by PR, traffics, linkbacks). Unless he don’t want to use Google? Quite funny reason huh?

Not all blogger blogging for traffics. Some blog for fun, blog for hobby, blog for social. Does that mean they don’t have right to tell people their thoughts? No. So I doubt the author’s motive to stop people from blogging. (more…)
