LogoMe, You’re Fired!
Posted in iPod, Reviews | By AhTim @ November 22nd, 2008
LogoMe, you’re fired! I’m so happy my iPod touch 2.1 firmware like a new toy. But LogoMe make my iPod touch down with only black screen! No matter which button I press, it only stay at DFU / Recovery mode in iTunes.
If you notice, the QuickPwn tool allow you to change the boot logo during jailbreak. It change to a Pineapple logo instead of an Apple. But I don’t like the Pineapple, the logo not nice. LogoMe from Cydia installer help to change boot logo without hassle. But it does not work well in iPod touch.
iPod Touch Black Screen
Writen in LogoMe description, it can customize our boot logo without restore firmware. It require firmware iPhone 2.0.2 and above. Normally, apps available in repository are compatible between iPhone and iPod touch unless it specify.
Without any doubt, I install LogoMe into my iPod touch with customize boot logo from AhTim.com. During flashing firmware process, I’m a bit worry. It is dangerous to flash firmware directly. Unfortunately, the iPod dead (black screen) on my next reboot!! The screen has nothing (normal black blank screen) just like you can’t switch it on.

Troubleshoot iPod Black Screen
I plug it into computer with USB cable. iTunes detected an iPod in recovery mode. After seaching on Internet and try errors on iPod buttons, no solution found. Some iPod users face same problem. I suspect LogoMe is ONLY compatible with iPhone, NOT iPod touch. LogoMe developer, please kindly put a Warning Message in the description.
Finally, I have to restore and redo the hacking (QuickPWN) process. Waste my time to download whole bunch of apps and sync data again!! At least, my iPod don’t die.

LogoMe is only for 1st generation ipod touches and phones, if you have a 2G it wont work. You should try reading an apps description before whining like babies.

This app is SHIT. I wish it would’ve said it doesn’t work on 2G iPod Touches. My iPod won’t freakin boot now. I’m pissed. How the hell was I supposed to know which version of redsn0w I used? All I knew was my firmware, which is 2.2.1..and do I have to use that command mode prompt thing to get my firmware back when I restore it? Cuz I definitely deleted it a few weeks ago. This is shit. The makers of this app need to be sued.

And I need help using QuickPwn to re-jailbreak my iPod. I don’t have the firmware file that it needs. I deleted the custom firmware made with redsn0w and the official firmware that took me HOURS to download, a few weeks ago. So wtf. PLEASE help. My email is monteezy@gmail.com

@Teezy: Easiest way is to download the firmware and jailbreak it again.

I have the same problem too. I can’t get get into DFU mode, fk man is my ipod finished forever?
May 19th, 2009 at 9:41 AM
for everyone having trouble getting it into dfu mode plug it in when it beeps hold down home and shut off until it beeps again then let of shut off until it beeps yet again your ipod is now in dfu mode. from there you can restore your ipod to normal. im not sure if you can just re-jailbreak using redsn0w instead of restoring it but i don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to.
firmware 2.2.1 on 2g will crash when using logome if not jailbroken with redsn0w 0.3
redsn0w 0.3 only works with exactly and 2g ipod touch running exactly 2.2.1

I know how it feals, i also thought my ipod was broken since it wasn’t recognised..
do this:
plug it in your computer
hold the power button and home button for +- 10 seconds (untill you hear the blop sound on your pc)
then you release the power button untill you hear another blip. (keep holding the home button)
after the 2nd blip: release the home button.
then you can restore your ipod again in itunes (or hack it again with quickfreedom or whatever..)

WTF I actually had some stuff I was working on across SSHfs. Is there a way to image the ipod’s filesystem (actually, I just need the flash’s image, can separate it by self)?
