Is Advertlets dying ?

Are you Advertlets victim?

If you are one of the Advertlets publisher, I am sure you are one of the victim during the Advertlets domain name expired incident whereby all traffic to Advertlets.com has been redirect to the domain renewal page.

When I check my blog on last Saturday night ( about 9.15pm), my blog main page loading half way and auto redirect to the domain renewal page as screenshot below. At first, I thought this was cause by spyware on the computer, but when I read carefully on the redirected link, I suspect it was due to the Advertlets code. Without delay, I login my blog and remove the Advertlet code directly form my sidebar widget. It just work fine after that! :)

Josh Lim, the co-founder of Advertlets admit and apologize for the “domain renewal mistake“. He claimed that:

A complication in the renewal process caused the Advertlets.com domain to expire, and caused issues for bloggers with our ads installed, which made their blogs redirect to a placeholder page.

Is Advertlets dying?

I know nobody is perfect and we used to forget things. But do you think forget to renew domain name is acceptable? This is too unprofessional! I hope Advertlets know that they are running a business, not running a normal blog. So why not renew the domain name for several years since this is long term business?

No matter how, Advertlets domain expired incident has make me loss some traffics, and I decided to take out their ads. I did a google search on this incident and note that lots of bloggers also took out Advertlets from their blog. I believe most of the bloggers were disappointed by Advertlets service!

How about you? Are you an Advertlets victim? Will you continue to use Advertlets as your income?

      Hi Tim,

I understand how you felt – because I spent quite a bit of time to take out all the Advertlets code when it happened. I personally know Josh Lim because I am his client (advertiser) as well – and I was much more concerned on how the campaign was going on after that.

I guess all of us makes mistakes, one time or another. Though it was a big impact – but lets give him a chance lorr.. :)

@meiling: I does not mean not to give Advertlets a chance. At least for now I am more concern on private advertising – http://ahtim.com/make-money-online-with-private-advertising/

Agreed. I’d love private advertising as well but non-popular blogs like mine will have to ride on the popularity of these blog network advertisement platform to earn some (if at all!) $$.

Pathetic huh? Visit my blog often :)
