Google just for search?
The fact is google search is just the beginning because with Google, now you can create, manage, edit files, and even receive reminders via SMS for free.
Google Docs and Spreadsheets
To buy a new Ms Office 2007 license costs about RM1500 and has hundreds of features on board but not many know these and perhaps you or me will never even use them
So, do you buy Ms Office just "For Display Only" ?
Although Google does not offer as many features as the complete Ms Office package, but they do offer word processing and a spreadsheet that cost you at $0 cent (Yes, I like Free things!
) Some more, it comes with team functions whereby multiple persons can work on a document at a same time.

The Features in Google Docs and Spreadsheets
With Google Apps Online, you could create documents and spreadsheets online or upload your existing files. It support various file format such as .Txt, .Doc, .Rtf, OpenDocument, .Csv, and .Xls. At this moment, Google Apps still does not support the new Ms Office 2007 yet, so you must save your Office 2007 as "Word 97-2003" document in order to use in Google Docs & Spreadsheet. Further more, you can convert your Docs or Spreadsheet to PDF file easily just with a click at "Save as PDF"
- Working together
Working together means you and your friends can work on same document at the same time. To share a file, open and then click on "Add collaborator", enter the addresses of your friends under "Invite persons" and then confirm with "Invite collaborator ". The invited person will then finds the document directly in his Google account, and you can now view in the main menu, sorting by when and by whom the document has last been edited. Interesting isn't it ?
Free reminders via SMS
With Google Calendar , now you can obtain your reminder easily via SMS, the function that even Outlook does not have
Cool, huh ?
- How to use Google Calendar ?
Firstly you must activate your mobile number. In Google Calendar, Click on "Settings" , then "Mobile Setup". Enter your mobile number in "Phone number" Google then sends a code to the mobile phone via SMS then type the code under "Verification code" confirm with "Finish Setup" and "Save ". To create a new event, select the option "SMS" and a lead time from "Notifications". When the appointment is due, you will receive a free message to remind you
My two cents
I've try out the Google Office online, and find out that Google has just include a new feature – Google Presentation
So what are you waiting for to register a Google account ?
For the Google Calendar SMS feature, I also just verified my mobile phone, and you know Free SMS notification works ! (I like Free things) Wow
