What so Special about Philea Resort and Spa?

Philea Resort is the largest and first pine lodge resort in Malaysia. Even the guest room , the furniture made by finest quality pine logs! Besides Pine Lodge design, what is so special about Philea Resort? At least three aspect different from others. You will enjoy when have these

1. Whole resort surrounded by Eco-friendly Environment. Especially the Forest landscape and Waterfall make us forget the busy schedule.
2. It is a resort for whole family. Its well maintain and thoughtful facilities make you and family don’t want to go home: Games room, Kids room, Spa center, Huge Swimming pool and Gymnasium room.
3. The First-class service! Every staff will give you a smile when have eye contact with you. They are all helpful and prompt respond.

My Luxury Experience at Philea Resort

Let me show you my luxury experience here. I don’t know Melaka have such Luxury hotel until I see into my eyes.

The lobby design is grand. Three stories building build by interlocking pine lodges.

We were welcome by sweet cold drink during check in. Enjoy the cold drink under hot weather on pine logs furniture make me feel fresh and closer to nature.

The staff insist sends us to guest room by this electric buddy car, even the guest room is just 100 meters away. Good service huh?

Philea Resort gave us 3 beds room. We were surprised!

Indoor is cool despite big hot sun outside.

Complimentary mineral water, tea and coffee.

After breakfast, we check out and spend our day in the city of World Heritage! We end our vacation in delightful heaven here.

Best Resort for Who?

Now come to the question, should you stay in Philea Resort and Spa? Well it depends what you want.

In my opinion, it most suitable for 3 types of travelers:

• If you travel a long arduous distance by car. After hours of tired driving, you won’t have to search for the resort. Philea Resort is  the first resort once enter Ayer Keroh Toll. It is just 100 meters away from the toll.
• You need a relaxing vacation in Old City. Believe me you won’t relax if stay in center of the city.
• Who want a Luxury experience must stay Philea Resort!

Besides, they provide hall for meeting, wedding packages and team building too.

Things to Improve?

Overall I’m very satisfied with the luxury resort experience. If you asking me to find quarrel in a straw, there are three aspect can do better:

• Karaoke room – The room full smell of smoke. Sorry I’m not a smoker. I’m not sure if this happen when pre-book? I just walk in to have a look and run out in 1 minute because of smelly.
• WiFi Internet signal –  Unfortunately my room number 3038 unable to access WiFi smoothly, the WiFi signal is too weak. Even my Maxis line has no signal. So there is no 3G! But who care when we are on vacation?
• Breakfast food – The food taste are average only. The fried chicken is not fresh too.

I believe Philea resort will do it better in my future visit. Especially the food after tired play, food for thought!

 My Two Cents

At first, Pine lodge resort remind me the stay experience at Bundhaya Resort in Koh Lipe island (Thailand) 3 months ago. It is one of the travel hot spot last year. But the stay experience there are too far behind Philea Resort!

My wife and I were surprise by the 3 beds guest room. It is spacious, cozy with ambient light and enjoyable bath room!

Of course it is not cheap to stay in this delightful heaven. But it worth the price!

Price start from RM370+ (normal rate) to RM770+ during Super Peak season. We really enjoy the weekend stay during this Super Peak season before Chinese New Year Holiday.

Thank you and Love you My Dear Wife!

This time we are going to KL for our 8th wedding anniversary. No others accompany, just both of us for this easy and relaxing holiday. Hope no flood and less traffic jam during the weekend long holiday.

Basically these are the places that I plan for the trip.

i-City SnoWalk

We will bring our own winter jacket to enjoy the freezing SnoWalk with some rides. Exciting for the snow simulation and snowball war! Also won’t forget to take sweet photos with light trees.

B Station Korean Restaurant

This year we want to try some Korean food at Ampang Water Front.

Typica Cafe

Then enjoy tea break with some handmade coffee biscuit. Yes, we are coffee lover!

Ann Beauty Care and Spa

At last, take 2 hours Balinese massage and spa at night after tired travel day!

I hope everything are as plan. We said our life is pursuing more valuable memories to review at old age. Dear, Hope you do enjoy our memorable anniversary trip this year!

It is first time four of us self tour to oversea country. The flight ticket was booked 6 months ago during AirAsia free seat promotion.

Mom said my oversea trip is to near since my trip to Korea (Sep 09) but I don’t think so. It looks near but is already 8 months ago.

Theme Parks to Visit

This is not our 1st trip to China, but my first time to step in Hong Kong, the Pearl of the Orient. It won’t be much place to visit since we only have 6 days there. Main plan is to visit all theme parks below!

• ZhuHai – The New Yuan Ming Palace (圆明新园) – It reproduces 18 scenic spots of Old Summer Palace (original built-in 1709 in Beijing) in the same size.
• ShenZhen – Window of the World (世界之窗) – A fantastic replica park of the world’s wonders, historical heritages and famous scenic sites.
• Hong Kong – Disneyland – The smallest yet closest Disneyland to visit in the world. My wife requested to visit a few years ago. This definitely the Must Go place and it is the main location for the trip. Hope no heavy rain on the day we visit!
• Ocean Park (海洋公园) -A marine mammal park, oceanarium, and animal theme park.

Prepare for the Fly

Our flight will be taken off on Tuesday early morning. So we will stay over night in Tune Hotel and ready for the travel play with fresh mind. All hotels booked, China and Hong Kong dollar changed, DSLR camera gear ready!

Also bring along iPod with offline map, and trip schedule plan. Wish us have a nice safety trip and I shall share interesting photos with you all. See you all in a week later

Flight Ticket Madness

I have done the madness thing in my life to grad FREE seats. Alarm rang, I woke up with sleeping eyes at 1AM.

The AirAsia website so slow until come out message below, everybody is rushing to purchase. Oh..happy to know many out there doing same thing on the same website.

Due to overwhelming response from our Free Seats promotion,
you’ll notice that our site is a little slower than usual.

The website always prompt Gateway error in process of booking. I have retry booking NOT less than 30 times! After 1 and half hours of fighting, I gave up and went to sleep. Ya, waste time to spend 1 and half hours looking at AirAsia logo end up with nothing.

Grab a Free Seat, Again

One hour after I slept, my dog barked. Woke up to observe, saw few people playing loud music in front the shop. My wife also woke up and suggested why not grad free seats now?

This time, the Website speed improved a little bit. Most people went slept already? But still not very smooth. At the end we manage to get FREE seats for 4 persons to Macau at RM59 per pax! Flight ticket to back from Hong Kong is normal price.

In total, we save about RM200 per pax. Finally went slept at 4.30AM!!

My Two Cents

It was ridiculous night without good sleep. But worth to save total of RM800 for our trip. This will be my first oversea self tour in life. The planning for transportation, hotels, and attraction to visit is in progress.

Am targeting ShenZhen, ZhuHai and Hong Kong self tour on next year. Yes, self tour for more adventure, more flexible time and less product selling shop. My experience in Shanghai and Seoul told me group tour want us spend more money on their affiliated shop so they get better commissions.

Electronic Travel Guide

Since self tour don’t have tour guide, we need to plan trip by ourself. Travel guide book in bookstore could provide more ideas on attractions, things to do, transport and food.

I think transport info is the most important among others during your trip. Instead of travel book, I prefer electronic form. iPod Touch can be your travel guide as a map, train, bus information even food, hotel with good traveller app.

I have setup 3 Apps in iPod as travel guide for Hong Kong trip:

• HK MTR Lite (free @ iTunes Store~2.6mb)
  
• Lonely Planet Travel Guides ($0.99 @ iTunes Store ~65mb)
  
• Hong Kong 720

Of course there are a lot more on the Net, get what you pay. Personally, I think Hong Kong 720 is a must have App for the trip. It has all famous attractions’ introduction and information to get there.

PS: There are apps for ShenZhen and Malaysia travel too. No harm to download because it is FREE!

No doubt Korea is a nice country, higher technology and better security but higher standard of life means goods are more expensive. Also it is hard to communicate with language other than Korean.

I have taken about 2000 photos for the trip. I think need days to select photos for printing and reorganise. So please stay tune for more photos upload.

As a whole, Seoul is a nice city, too exciting to experience International brotherhood when see brothers and sisters in such huge convention, and really tired to travel back from Jeju Island and transfer to Malaysia. Really long hours flight.
