No doubt everyone can make money from blog. Some make good income than a normal job. Where others make only pocket money or a cup of coffee.

My question is can you make a living from blog? This mean can you make enough money for your living just from blog? There is always exceptional case, but generally affected by 2 factors below. (My wife discuss this on her posts-part1 and part2 in Chinese, and now I translate and reorganize here).

Although Chrissie just blog for 6 months, she notice blog for money is not easy. Make money from blog sounds easy but not everyone can do that. Full time blogger that make a living from blog is result after lots of effort, not luck!

One of the famous blog syndication network – BlogRush is shutting down. If you still remember, my blog has been banned from BlogRush on last year October.

I’m still new blogger (1 month old) at that time. They decline my account due to too much promotion and not enough quality content. Since then, I never reapply my BlogRush account.

I’m glad AhTim.com is still alive while BlogRush is shutting down. Last year same month, I said “My BlogRush is Dead”. Now, we can say “BlogRush is Dead”!

Why BlogRush Dead ?

During the first year, BlogRush successfully served 3.4 Billion blog post headlines all over the world. Then why end up with closed down the service? According to John Reese:

• Made many mistakes in deciding what blogs should stay or go (Maybe one of the mistake is decline AhTim.com?)
• Never made a single penny in revenue (No revenue, how to survive?)
• Service didn’t meet the expectation (Major factor to close it down)

No wonder the word “Beta” was there for pass 1 year. I doubt the reason behind this project. Do the founder build it for fun? What they want to do with all these blog’s information? Nobody know.

Why I blogging? Why you blog? This is an interesting question. It’s an important question to know what you blogging for? At least, it would help to achieve the purpose or aim of your blogging.

I never put on this kind of survey to my reader. But I’ve read blogging survey result from Chris. It can be use as a reference for all of us. What can we learn from the pie chart?

Everything has its own best time to do. For example, the best time to sleep is at 10pm – 11pm. The best time to exercise is at 6pm evening. If we could apply the best time to do things, we have better health.

As a blogger, I have monitoring the best time to publish post for some time of period. I myself used to publish post in the morning after 10am even put in schedule. I feel that it is the most suitable time for my readers and optimize for my RSS subscribers.

Best Time to Publish Post

After read the study by Jake Luciani, the conclusion he made is: between 1pm and 3pm (after lunch) or between 5pm and 7pm (after work) are the best times and Thursday is the best day to publish post.

This study was analyze based on 10k posts with blog PR > 6.

Time flies to April of 2008, it was already 2 months since my last SEO report on February 2008. Now, its time again to reveal my SEO report for April 2008. Have I improved? Let’s see the results below.

My Monthly SEO Report

1. Alexa

My Alexa rank on February 2008 was 224,497, and now progressing well to 208,954. It is total of 7% increment in percentage. This is quite close to my target 200,000 but still need some extra force into the traffics. I am going to try more marketing methods in continuos months.

2. Slimstat

My avarage visitors was between 200-300 visits a day on February’s report. My target was 400 visits a day. As shown in the results, I have head over the target towards 700 visits a day! (more…)
