Compaq CQ40 or CQ20 ?

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

I plan to buy my first laptop end of this month or early next month. My initial plan was HP Pavilion tx2520AU Tablet but it obsolete already. Its latest HP TouchSmart tx2z model is too expensive for me.

While choosing another model, I reduce the budget to between $2000 to $2500 (RM). This is to save some money for a DSLR camera!

An intermediate performance model should serve purpose of minimal multimedia and mainly for blogging and Internet.

Compaq Presario CQ40 or CQ20?

After browse through laptops in the range, I found Compaq CQ40-154TU and CQ20-213TU suit my needs in term of performance, capacity, design and price.

The specifications for the two models are similar except disk capacity and screen size. CQ40 has larger 14″ screen and capacity 320GB while CQ20 only 12-inch and 250GB. I like mobility of 12″ screen but have to pay more $60 (RM) for it. Why pay more for smaller screen and capacity huh? (more…)

iPod Mimi Switch Control

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Do you think the lady is winking or smiling at you? Don’t misunderstand, she is just controlling her iPod using her face.

The Mimi Switch invented by Japanese researcher Kazuhiro Taniguchi. It is a set of earphones containing  infrared sensors. This lets the earpiece sense tiny movements inside the ear caused by facial expressions then translate them into commands for music device, like iPod.

In fact, not only iPod it can be programmed to control other electronic devices.

Can you imagine we can play, stop, forward, rewind or even choose playlist by just winking, smiling or sticking out your tongue like this cute model? (more…)

Let’s review some noticeable advantage of this portable sound speakers system.

  • Provide a sound boost to the iPod touch and iPhone. I swear the sound produce doesn’t lose to your normal computer speaker. Plus it has surrounding sound. That’s why I said the sound bigger than it’s size.
  • Transform 3-click system make it move like Transformer. Make storage and setup easier. It also flexible that support multiple viewing angles.
